LESSON 01 OF 03 · WRITTEN GUIDE
Write a brief AI can actually use
A useful brief describes a person trying to do something in a particular situation. Start with the task and constraints before naming a visual style. AI can produce a convincing page while completely missing the reason that page exists. Your brief is the reference you use to catch that mismatch.
Make it practical
Choose a small product: a reading list, workshop page, or appointment request. Write one sentence each for the user, their goal, the trigger, the main action, and the evidence of success. Add what the first version will not do.
TRY THIS PROMPT
Help me refine a brief for a reading-list app for busy parents. The primary task is saving one book with a title and an optional note. Version one has no account or social features. Identify unclear requirements and ask three focused questions before suggesting a screen.
Check your work
Can another person explain the primary task without asking you what the product is for? Does every proposed element support that task?
Use the output as a draft. Compare it with the brief, inspect the work, and keep the decisions you can explain.
